Farsight DNSDB Scout v2.6.1 includes these maintenance updates:

  • Export filenames: Standard Search JSON, CSV, TXT, and PDF filenames use underscores to defang domain names, bailiwicks, and IP addresses. Supplied trailing root dots are preserved; file contents are unchanged.
  • Flexible Search errors: Overly broad regex and glob queries display a clearer message with guidance to refine the query.
  • RData IP examples: The IP input placeholder uses pipes to separate alternative examples and adds a network example. Each query accepts one IP address or network.

Fixed

  • RData CNAME chasing: Chase sequences identify the starting domain with an (RData) label instead of undefined. The tooltip clarifies that chasing uses forward lookups.
